Borrowed Sunset was created for the Triangle Land Conservancy charity auction in February 2026. Constructed from 90% recycled materials—including aluminum cans, cardboard boxes, and construction foam—the piece draws inspiration from the layered glow of a West Coast sunset. It holds a dynamic, shifting quality: as the viewer moves, strategically placed aluminum catches and reflects light at precise angles, momentarily illuminating the surface before dissolving back into the landscape. This subtle interplay between reflection and shadow echoes the fleeting nature of sunset itself. This work marks the second installation in my ongoing “Lacroix” series, with plans to continue transforming recycled waste into immersive landscapes. The brand’s iconic packaging lends itself naturally to bold visual reinterpretation, making it an ideal material for impactful upcycled art. I’ll certainly be staying hydrated as the collection grows.
